Forest's season will be decided by one city, London!
Somehow the fixture gods decided that 5 of our last 6 games should be against teams from London. Add to that a Wembley trip (or two), and everything is about London. So just out of interest I decided to check our record out playing teams from each region of the UK and then check out how other teams have faired and their run of fixtures as well...
The annoying thing is, our form against London teams has been the worst so far this season when compared to the other regions.
We have picked up 1.56 points per game against the London clubs, compared to 2 points per game against teams in the North West & Midlands.
Every team has their bogey region though.
Newcastle & Man City have struggled against teams in the North West and against the South Coast sides. Newcastles record v London is worse than Forest's and they have three London sides still to face.
Villa haven't had a great time against London clubs either and still have two to play.
Chelsea have really struggled against North West sides and have three of them still to play.
If we take the remaining fixtures for each team chasing down a top 5 finish & apply their PPM record against sides from the regions they face, then the final points totals would look a bit like this.......
Newcastle come out on top due to their good record against Midland's teams and decent record against the London clubs. Forest come in second with the most consitent set of points given most of our games are against London sides. Chelsea and Man City have the worst set of fixtures if this regional analysis means anything.
Below are the full form tables for each club in each region as well as the home & away records.
Forest's record travelling to London has been a meagre 1 point per game so far, but we've managed 2 points per game at home with wins against West Ham & Palace offset by defeat to Fulham & Arsenal getting a point. So that would give us 6 points as we play two in london and two at home. Our record against Midland's teams at home has also been 2 points per game with the win over Villa and draw with Wolves. So in total 8 points to bring us to a total of 65 points. That would be tight, very tight, but still ahead of the other sides based on their regional records above.
